The preschool was established in 1960 and has been one of the most highly sought out preschools throughout our community, but there are some interesting facts that you may not know.

The preschool was started by Faith Presbyterian Preschool over 50 years ago as an outreach of the church to witness to the love of Christ.

Dr. Nick Heerema, Dr. Hank Watt and Dr. Ross Witherspoon served on the the first preschool committee that hired the first preschool director, Lynn Frances.  Dr. Scott Dailey soon followed as board moderator.

The first preschool class was held in the Education building ( now the preschool building) and the church offices were in the scout hut.  The church was housed at Kate Sullivan Elementary School.   There was not a sanctuary at that time, nor was there a John Knox Road or the fenced playground, so the children just played in the backyard.

Up until a few years ago, when the registration procedure changed, parents would come on Sunday morning and camp out to be in line on Monday morning to register their child for preschool.

The preschool is fully accredited and far exceeds the highest standards and guidelines required the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Department of Children and Families.

Scholarships ranging in the amount of $10,000 – 12,000 are included annually in the preschool budget for qualified applicants and families.  Faith Preschool also accepts the Step Up For Students Scholarship (see link below).

Faith Preschool has one of a very few 1/2 day fully accredited K programs in Leon County.  The preschool employs 19 teachers, a director and an administrative assistant.  There is over 300 years of combined experience and dedication of service with the present staff.

We are most proud of the preschool ministry!
